Five no-heat summer hair ideas

Five no-heat summer hair ideas

It’s one thing to blow-dry and style in the winter months; for starters, it’s too cold to venture out with damp hair! But when the warmer months come, no one wants to be a slave to their heat tools. And on top of that, with everything from road trips to music festivals to beach holidays on your schedule, you don’t have time to dry and curl and straighten on a daily basis!
Instead, try some of these easy styling alternatives that don’t involve an army of heat tools or a ton of styling time. Your hair and your schedule will thank you!
Summer Hair Ideas: Emma WatsonLook #1: sleek bun to glossy waves. Rake a smoothing shine serum through hair, then comb into a low, sleek bun using a snag-free hair tie and bobby pins. This gets your hair up and styled in a chic and low-key fashion for the next several hours. Once your hair is dry, undo the bun and gently shake out your hair for smooth, shiny waves.
If you want to do this look overnight, make sure to sleep on a silk pillowcase. This ensures your hair texture stays smooth and frizz-free, so you won’t wake up with rumpled bedhead in the AM. If the bun is in the way of sleeping comfortably, tie the bun up high on top of your head; as a bonus, you’ll get a volume boost at the roots!
Look #2: beachy waves overnight. Spritz a sea salt spray into damp hair, twist into small curls all over the head, and use bobby pins to secure them overnight. In the morning, take out the bobby pins and shake out your beachy waves. This rumpled texture is perfect with spring’s boho fashion trends.
Look #3: the messy updo. Whether you’re trying to stretch a blowout for one more day, have frizz to hide, or just don’t have time to dry and style your hair in the AM, a messy high bun solves a multitude of problems. Lightly rake a styling crème or gel through the hair to keep things tidy, twist, and pin. If your hair is very thin and you want more volume, try a sock bun or use a hair donut to plump things up. It’s okay if you have some random pieces sticking out—that’s the whole point of this look!
Look #4: natural curls. Do you normally blow-dry your curls straight? Press a curling gel through hair, twist into ringlets with your fingers, and let your hair air dry instead. This wild, natural hair look is super-popular right now and looks perfectly relaxed for the weekend. On day two, take advantage of the natural texture with a great updo or a fat side braid!
Look #5: A messy braid. This one is for girls with long hair. Towel or air dry thoroughly and spritz a thickening gel into hair. Now start by braiding two or three tiny braids in at random spots on your head. (If you have long bangs, you can braid your bangs back in two braids to keep them contained.) When you’re done with the tiny braids, gather all of your hair and make a big, messy braid to one side; a fishtail braid is great, if you know how, but a plain braid is fine too! Finish by securing an oversized silk flower clip behind one ear.
